PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Vintage teapot from Ladakh adorned with hundred of turquoise color chips.
This very rare teapot was certainly made in Ladakh (Northern India). The metal elements have been shaped with the repoussé technique. The stones are glued on the metal surface of the body of the teapot and on the lid.
This type of object was made at the end of the 19th century in Kashmir (the province close to Ladakh) and was intended for export during the colonial period.
